Fringe CAF Festival - 2007 What is your current show about & where is it touring? Dr El Suavo: My current show is me, Dr El Suavo!!! Australia's leading parlor magician bringing you illusions the likes that haven't been seen in decades and after you see me perform, you will understand why!!!!! When & where did you start out in comedy? Dr El Suavo: I think the day I was born. There's 8 years between myself and my 3 older sisters, so was I a mistake?????? I was actually born with a tail so I might be the son of Satan!!!!!!! My father was a magician and con man so it was only natural for me to follow in his footsteps. When & where was your most outstanding performance? Dr El Suavo: They all are special!!!!!! I must admit that I enjoyed touring the USA again this year as it gave me a chance to perform in the southern bible belt for the first time!!! The people down there are great, and not all related!!!! Performing in Elvis's old karate studio in Memphis was pretty special! Especially since that day I visted Gracelands and had been crying non stop for 6 hours!!! I also did a packed show in a small college town called Oxford in Mississipi on a Monday night which had the audience giving me home made blueberry tarts and the latest book on Phil Spector! Oh yeah, I should give a special mention to the strip club I worked in New Plymouth, New Zealand!!!!! When & where was your most appalling audience? Dr El Suavo: This one could have been so much the 'best' show I could have ever had except for the lack of respect of the younger generations today! I opened for Jack Ass's Steve O at one of my favorite venues in the world, Melbourne's Palais Theatre. My magic and humor was to 'high brow' for the stoned and drunk teenagers who only wanted to see Steve O drink his own vomit! It got ugly but there were fans out there who saved my hairy pimply ass! Oh yeah, not to mention Launceston University where myself and close associate, Neil Hamburger, performed in front of 5 people! What or who are your current jokes about? Dr El Suavo: I'm a magician and my tricks are old! Anything that spews out of my mouth is the lunatic ravings of a mad man!!! Who is cool? Dr El Suavo: Dr El Suavo of course!!! Ever had any run ins or near run ins with the law? Dr El Suavo: yes, that's why I am always wearing a 'luchas' (mexican wrestling) mask!!!! Do you have a grand plan to take over the world? Dr El Suavo: I did! that's why I wear the wrestling mask!!!! I was the leader of a secret 'cult' a number of years back which I still have people looking for me for. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Dr El Suavo: Doing 6 nights a week for all the fat gambling tourists in a third rate casino in Las Vegas. The thing most dearest to you is... ? Dr El Suavo: My pet rubber chicken! Who is the most embarrassing member of your family? Dr El Suavo: My father. After the trail he blazed through his life I can get away with anything!!!!! Favourite thing to do in your spear time is... ? Dr El Suavo: Immerse myself in conspiracy theories. Who are your favourite comedians/comedic role models? Dr El Suavo: Neil Hamburger, Rodney Dangerfield, Jerrly Lewis, Redd Foxx, Lenny Bruce, Andrew Dice Clay, Bill Hicks, Rudy Ray Moore Don Rickles, Andy Kaufman, Richard Pryor and more!
